How do I say, “I Like You!”???
In today’s world, it seems like the old fashion techniques of forming a relationship have all changed. The terms that once used to put status on where a relationship is at have changed. Terms such as dating, courting, and even friends have changed to new words such as chilling/hanging out, going out, friends with benefits, and just friends. So, first let me define the old terms used for relationships:
- Dating - simply means that two people are spending time together to get to know each other better for likes and dislikes, hobbies, and goals. The point of dating is to decide whether or not the two people feel like they would enjoy courting.
- Courting - is the next step after dating when two people have decided to invest further into each other and open up even further. The point of courting is to decide whether or not the two people feel like they would enjoy being married to one another.
- Friends - is simply someone you like to hang around, talk to, and trust their advice.
But these terms have changed and the new words to express these relationships are as follows:
- Chilling/Hanging Out - is today’s version of dating for the most part.
- Going out - is today’s version of courting.
- Friends with Benefits - is a new term that simply means that the two people maintain the friends status but, also, share a physical attribute of their relationship that is supposed to and agreed to never go further into the dating status.
- Just Friends - is basically today’s version of friends.
Within the new defining of relationship terms, I find it sometimes hard to say, “I like you!” because I do not know where exactly that will take the relationship. So why say it at all until you are sure that it is felt by both sides? Cause saying it early may simply damage the developing relationship and what might have been may never be because it wasn’t left to grow. Which leaves me still with the question unanswered… Please Help Me with this problem!
